New Year, New Reading Goals

Reading Goals for 2024

It’s the time of year when everyone sets their reading goals for the next year so I’ve set some of my own.

These will be wildly ambitious and unlikely to be met but working on the premise that if you don’t try then you definitely won’t succeed I am going to give it a whirl. My aim this year is to read as many of the book I already own as possible.

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2024

This is a staple of my reading goals and I actually managed to complete the challenge in 2023.

This year there are 40 main prompts and advanced prompts. Some are repeats from previous challenges, but there are lots of new prompts to get stuck into.

There are definitely so trickier prompts that I will need to borrow from the library to complete. There’s a few sci-fi categories that I’m not particularly looking forward to but it is always good to read out of your comfort zone.

The Facebook group and Goodreads community were so helpful and encouraging this year.

52 Book Club Reading Challenge

Inspired by some Bookstagram chums, I am going to try and complete the 52 Book Club Challenge. When I initially compared these prompts to Popsugar I thought that these were more flexible and fitted a lot of books I already had on my TBR.

There are some exciting prompts on here. I am particularly looking forward to ‘A plot similar to another book’ and ‘The other book with the similar plot’.

There are loads of downloads to help you share your progress.

Read Christie 2024

I completed some of the reads for 2023 and am hopefully going to tick some more of them off this year .

This year’s theme is Decades. Starting with the 1920s, you can work your way through Christie books from every era of this prolific writer’s career.

The January read is The Mysterious Affair at Styles, which introduces the reader to Hercule Poirot.

Organised by Agatha Christie Lots, you need to sign up for the newsletter for details about the books, articles, and chat. There’s a gorgeous postcard to download when you register.

Buzzword Reading Challenge

Organised by BooksandLala, this is a fun challenge.

Each month has a ‘buzz word’ that serves as the theme, and you can choose how you interpret it and which titles match.

My aim for this challenge is to get to about September and see what I have read that fits the buzz words and then catch up on the rest.

You can log the challenge on Story graph and there are templates to complete and share on social media. And if you are really loving the channel you can subscribe to the BooksandLala YouTube channel:

I am planning to use Storygraph more this year so have signed up to the challenges to make it easier to keep track of which prompts I have read. If you have Storygraph follow me at Emmasthingstoread.

Happy reading!
