Blog Tour- The Chateau

The Chateau

By Catherine Cooper

What it’s about?

They thought it was perfect. They were wrong…

A glamorous chateau. Aura and Nick don’t talk about what happened in England. They’ve bought a chateau in France to
make a fresh start, and their kids need them to stay together – whatever it costs.

A couple on the brink.
The expat community is welcoming, but when a neighbour is murdered at a lavish party, Aura and Nick don’t know who to trust.

A secret that is bound to come out…
Someone knows exactly why they really came to the chateau. And someone is going to give them what they deserve.

What I think:

Moving to a French Chateau is lots of people’s dream. But what happens when that dream turns into a nightmare.

This is such a dark and twisty thriller. Just when you think you have it worked out it pulls you in another direction entirely and keeps you guessing right to the end.

The book structured so that you never know which characters you can trust and where your sympathy should lie. As the details emerge you are forced to reevaluate your feelings.

Nick and Aura are trying to escape a scandal in the UK, the details of which slowly emerge throughout the book. The glamorous ex-pat chateau community seems the ideal place to start a new life. Investing everything they have into a Chateau with a view to restoring the building, they agree to be part if TV series that documents their journey.

They soon find that juggling looking after the children, the small TV crew, a nanny, new neighbours and restoring the house is more challenging than at first thought.

And then one night at a glamorous halloween party one of their neighbours is murdered. No one understands why and secrets are revealed.

I’m not going to spoil it but it will definitely keep you guessing!
