The Marquess Next Door
By Virginia Heath

What it’s about?
A dashing new neighbour…
Temptation on her doorstep!
To avoid an unwanted suitor at a ball, Hope Brookes asks another gentleman to rescue her. He obliges – with a surprisingly passionate kiss! Revealed as her sinfully handsome new neighbour, Lucius, Marquess of Thundersley, they forge a friendship over their balconies. It’s refreshing that Lucius is more interested in her writer dreams than her looks, so why can’t she stop thinking about that kiss?

What I think;
If you enjoyed Bridgerton and are eagerly awaiting the next series, then you are going to love The Marquess Next Door. It is just what you need for a fun, romantic historical fiction fix. And it is published today!
Hope Brookes is a fantastic heroine. Beautiful, intelligent and witty, she has sass galore and does not suffer fools gladly. Unfortunately for her, most of the society men she meets are absolute fools.
But when a handsome and charming stranger comes to her rescue, Hope is caught off guard. So much so that she ends up pushing him in a fountain. She is even more shocked when he turns out to be the Marquess of Thundersley and her neighbour.
Luke is of course handsome and charming and hugely rich, but he is also intelligent, caring and quick-witted. He is the perfect match for Hope.
But she is focused on writing a novel and getting it published and he is get getting to grips with running his newly inherited estates and looking after his ill mother. There’s also his scheming widowed sister-in-law to contend with.
This is such a fun read. I was instantly captivated by the narrative and the fast-paced, witty dialogue that puts a modern spin on an historical romance.
This is the first book by Virginia Heath that I have read, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and am definitely a new fan. Off to add a stack more to my summer reading list!

About the Author:
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
