What I think?

This is a fun romantic comedy that is reminiscent of Flat Share (post it romance) and old school Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan rom-coms.

Sadie is a great narrator – I loved her chatty but personal style. Her life is firmly rooted in an alternative Covid-free 2020 with Tiger King on Netflix and Insta influencers promoting weightloss lollipops.

Sadie’s job as PA to superstar photographer, Damian Banks is proving to not be the dream job she thought it would be. She finds herself picking up his dry cleaning, buying his Christmas presents, including her own, and even breaking up with his girlfriends. Damian is a man-child who is incapable of making his own decisions and generally treats people poorly. The only thing that keeps her going is post-it notes and treats from her hot-desk buddy Adam who she has been sharing notes with all year. When the chance to work as a curator in a prestigious gallery comes up Sadie jumps at the chance.

What’s great about this book is the way that the characters, particularly Sadie and Damian, develop. Despite the misunderstandings and secrets along the way charming and relatable relationships emerge.

The festive highlight is definitely Sadie’s festive loving family which will make you want to start putting your own decorations up even though it’s only September!

This is a charming, feel-good festive romance with lots of humour that would be great to read while tucking into the chocolates this winter.
