The Dinosaur Department Store

The Dinosaur Department Store

By Lily Murray and Richard Merritt

Published by Buster Books

Eliza Jane is an unusual child. She’s about to turn 4 and declares that for her birthday she would like a real dinosaur for a pet.

Her mum and dad take her into the city to Me Magisaurus’ Dinosaur Department Store to choose her dream pet. What will Eliza Jane choose?

This is brightly coloured, witty rhyming story. Eliza Jane is sassy and fun. I like this book because it shows that girls can be obsessed with dinosaurs just as much as the Little Monster. She’s also a character with mixed heritage and you see both of her parents in the book which is fab!

What we especially like is the fact that although Eliza Jane comes across as very cheeky at the beginning of the book, her kindness shines through at the end with a funny twist.

The book also comes with a handy dinosaur pronunciation guide at the end which is a life saver! I have spent too many hours practising saying pachycephalosaurus already!

This would be a great Christmas present for the cheeky small people in your life. We love it!
