I managed to read two out of the three books I picked for January – which is pretty good going to be honest! This month I have picked three books that are all quite different so hopefully they will cover all moods and I will get around to all three.
This month’s choice:
The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary
I have really enjoyed the previous books I have read by Beth O’Leary and have decided not to watch the recent television show until I have read this so I have bumped it up the tbr.
What it’s about?
Addie and her sister are on an epic road trip to a friend’s wedding in rural Scotland. But, not long after setting off, a car slams into theirs. The driver is none other than Addie’s ex, who she hasn’t seen since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.
Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too, so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride. And with four hundred miles to go, they can’t avoid confronting the very messy history of their relationship . . .
Will they make it to the wedding? And, more importantly, is this really the end of the road for Addie and Dylan?

Every Exquisite Thing by Laura Steven
This has been on my shelf and when I saw that includes an epigraph by Oscar Wilde which inspired the title I have chosen it for the epigraph challenge prompt on the 52 Book Challenge.
“Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic. Worlds had to be in travail, that the meanest flower might blow…” – Oscar Wilde
What it’s about?
Penny Paxton is the daughter of an icon. Her supermodel mother has legions of adoring fans around the world, and Penny is ready to begin her journey to international adoration, starting with joining the elite Dorian Drama School.
When Penny’s new mentor offers her an opportunity she cannot refuse, to have a portrait painted by a mysterious artist who can grant immortal beauty to all his subjects, Penny happily follows in the footsteps of Dorian’s most glittering alumni, knowing that stardom is sure to soon be hers.
But when her trusted mentor is found murdered, Penny realises she’s made a terrible mistake – a sinister someone is using the uncanny portraits to kill off the subjects one by one. As more perfectly beautiful students start to fall, Penny knows her time is running out . . .

Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
The Rokesbys is a prequel series to the Bridgerton books and one of the series I am planning to read this year. This is the first in the series.
What it’s about?
A generation before the Bridgertons, there were the Rokesbys . . .
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers, and she’s not opposed: their families have been neighbours for centuries. There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate: George. He may be the eldest, and heir to the earldom, but he’s arrogant, annoying and she’s certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can’t stand the sight of him, either.
But when Billie and George are quite literally thrown together, a whole new sort of sparks begin to fly. And when these lifelong adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they can’t abide is the one person they can’t live without . . .

Happy reading
