Prompt 50 – A book that starts with the letter X

I had no idea what to read for this category so searched through Kindle Unlimited to see what I could find and went with X Marks the Spot by Sal Bianchi.

What it’s about?

When an enterprising young woman is attacked at a local Airbnb, she goes to Police Chief Randall Cole for help. It turns out that the woman’s on the trail of lost treasure on the Forgotten Coast, right down to the treasure map where X marks the spot. When Cole starts to investigate, the attackers move to strike again.

Now, it’s a race against the clock to see if Cole can find the treasure first, and if he and the girl he’s protecting will survive the ordeal.

What it’s about?

I’m afraid to say that I did not enjoy this book.

The opening seemed a bit confusing – there was a lot going on and but it wasn’t absolutely clear sometimes.

Basically a woman finds what she thinks might be a treasure map. And with no further knowledge, skill or equipment, rents a place near the location and goes on a mission to find it.

Then, without a real explanation lots of people with guns come after her and shoot up the house she has rented.

The police chief was incompetent – instead of really investigating or preventing criminals from destroying the community he actually takes her back to the scene and then helps her treasure hunt.

Didn’t like any of the characters so unfortunately this wasn’t me.
