Haven’t done a Library Fridays post in forever, so though I would share today’s trip to the our local library.
Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge finishes this weekend so we made sure that we popped in to tick off our final visit and collect a gorgeous medal for the Little Monster.
You had to complete four visits between July and September – to be honest we have been in the library many more times, but these were book swapping sessions.
We have really enjoyed the Marvellous Makers challenge. This year’s theme was all about allowing children to tell their own stories and be creative. Alongside the challenge there have been loads of library events including craft workshops and storytelling. We especially enjoyed the summer fun day that our borough libraries arranged. There were so many fun crafts and challenges linked to the Marvellous Makers characters.

The Little Monster was even interviewed for Hillingdon People magazine and we got our picture shared on the borough social media!

With the challenge complete he received a gorgeous medal and certificate which he is really proud of!

This week’s book choices:
One book each for this week, and we have both gone for books from well loved series.
Taken at the Flood by Agatha Christie
My choice is Taken at the Flood by Agatha Christie. This is Hercule Poirot mystery and part of this year’s Read Christie challenge.
What it’s about?
A few weeks after marrying an attractive young widow, Gordon Cloade is tragically killed by a bomb blast in the London blitz. Overnight, the former Mrs Underhay finds herself in sole possession of the Cloade family fortune.
Shortly afterwards, Hercule Poirot receives a visit from the dead man’s sister-in-law who claims she has been warned by ‘spirits’ that Mrs Underhay’s first husband is still alive. Poirot has his suspicions when he is asked to find a missing person guided only by the spirit world. Yet what mystifies Poirot most is the woman’s true motive for approaching him…

Tom Gates: A Tiny Bit Lucky by Liz Pichon
The reading challenge has introduced the Little Monster to the Tom Gates series and he has been devoting them all summer.
What it’s about?
Will Tom and his band DOGZOMBIES be LUCKY enough to win the Rock Weekly Band Battle competition? They just might be if they could find time to practice! But with inspectors in the school, an amazing new cartoon on TV, caramel wafers to eat and a stray cat getting in the way, Tom’s a bit too busy having FUN!
