The Party Season

By S J I Holliday

What it’s about?

It’s the most deadly time of the year…

‘Forget about a white Christmas – the Yuletide turns blood-red in this pacy, atmospheric and chilling tale of festive revenge’ T.M. Logan, bestselling author of The Holiday

‘This thriller will keep you turning the pages well into the night’ S Magazine

‘A tense and tightly paced mystery full of suspense’ Katerina Diamond, bestselling author of The Silence

‘A thriller that fizzes with menace’ Mark Edwards, bestselling author of Keep Her Secret

The festive season is in full swing – parties, mistletoe and Christmas crackers abound.

In a hotel bar, a woman approaches you. Her party dress glitters with sequins.

What you don’t know is that your life is now in her hands – and there’s only one thing that will determine whether you live or die.

Are you a good person? Are you really? . . .

A cracking Christmas crime thriller for the festive season – perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, C.L. Taylor and Alex Pine.

What I think:

If you like your holiday reads with more mystery and murder than romance and snowballs then this is the book for you!

I absolutely stormed through this – reading it in two sittings.

The multiple narrative voices are clear and distinctive, and you get to know each of the characters really quickly.

The view points shift between the unidentified murderer and the investigation. The tension increases as the team races against time to piece together a puzzle where the clues are there, they just need the right people to make the links.

I liked the police team Becki and Eddie. They understand each other well, and there are some nice moments where you think their friendship might have the potential to turn into something more. They also both have their own lives and back stories, so I felt that they were fully developed people you imagine.

This is lively and fast-paced. It has a cinematic qualities as you jump from different perspectives.

The second book featuring Becki and Eddie. I haven’t read The Deaths of December, and while there are few references to their previous case, this is a stand-alone. I will however be checking out their earlier adventures.
