From Cornwall With Love
By Cressida McLaughlin

What it’s about?
There’s no place like home. There’s no place like Cornwall…
Maisie Winters has everything she could ever want. She lives in the idyllic Cornish town of Port Karadow, has a jammy job in her dad’s shop, adores her rescue mutt, and has time to take the landscape photos she loves.
While her best friend and sister left the town to chase big dreams in London and New York, Maisie stayed – she wouldn’t leave her favourite place for anything … or anyone.
When her long-time crush, Colm Caffrey, returns from a decade abroad, old feelings start to resurface. Maisie begins to ask herself if there might be one big thing missing after all?
What I think:
This is one of those books that makes you want to sell up and buy a cottage in Cornwall in a small town where everyone knows each other.
I loved Maisie from page 1. She knows what she likes and she works hard for it. While her school friends and sister have moved away, Maisie has stayed in Port Karadow and has taken iver the family business.
And while it may not be everyone’s dream, Maisie cannot imagine living any where else.
Her mother is clearly disappointed that she doesn’t have a successful, professional career, and her father doesn’t quite want to let go only the shop reins, but Maisie holds her own. And with her canine pal Sprout and her photography, she is reasonable content.
Until her teenage crush, gorgeous Colm, returns and sets Maisie’s heart all a flutter. There’s lot of flirting, fun and of course, misunderstandings along the way. But Maisie could be about to get her own happy ending.
The characters are all so likeable you will want to join them for a drink in the local or the school quiz and chips night, and the Cornish setting is simply gorgeous.
This is lovely, easy, escapist reading. Perfect for summer evenings in the back garden with a glass of something nice.
