Only managed one out of the three books I picked last month, so hoping for a better result in June. Summer is here so there’s lots of romance and pretty covers on this month’s stack.
My June picks:
Happy Place by Emily Henry
This is all over social media at the moment. I’ve reading this as part of a buddy read with the Booking Pretty Book Club over on Instagram. It might also tocknoff a Popsugar prompt.
What it’s about?
From Goodreads:
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.
They broke up six months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.
Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blue week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.
Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week… in front of those who know you best?
A couple who broke up months ago make a pact to pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends in this glittering and wise new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry.

Set on You by Amy Lea
This is another popular book on TikTok and Insta that I picked up last week. The protagonist, Crystal Chen, is described as ‘curvy’, so I’m going to use this for Popsugar prompt number 10: A romance with a fat lead.
What it’s about?
Curvy fitness influencer Crystal Chen built her career shattering gym stereotypes and mostly ignoring the trolls. After her recent breakup, she has little stamina left for men, instead finding solace in the gym – her place of power and positivity.
Enter firefighter Scott Ritchie, the smug new gym patron who routinely steals her favorite squat rack. Sparks fly as these ultra-competitive foes battle for gym domination. But after a series of escalating jabs, the last thing they expect is to run into each other at their grandparents’ engagement party.
In the lead up to their grandparents’ wedding, Crystal discovers there’s a soft heart under Scott’s muscled exterior. Bonding over family, fitness, and cheesy pick-up lines, she just might have found her swolemate. But when a photo of them goes viral, savage internet trolls put their budding relationship to the ultimate test of strength.

From Cornwall With Love By Cressida McLaughlin
This is one book I will definitely be reading this month as I am taking part in the blog tour and have been gifted a copy by Harper Fiction.
What it’s about?
A wonderful ray of reading sunshine’ Heidi Swain There’s no place like home. There’s no place like Cornwall… Maisie Winters has everything she could ever want.
She lives in the idyllic Cornish town of Port Karadow, has a jammy job in her dad’s shop, adores her rescue mutt, and has time to take the landscape photos she loves. While her best friend and sister left the town to chase big dreams in London and New York, Maisie stayed – she wouldn’t leave her favourite place for anything … or anyone.
When her long-time crush, Colm Caffrey, returns from a decade abroad, old feelings start to resurface. Maisie begins to ask herself if there might be one big thing missing after all?

I’m exam marking this month too, so hopefully I will still manage some reading.
Happy reading!
