When florist-to-the-stars Abbie Coleman catches a glimpse of her boyfriend through the window of Tiffany’s, she couldn’t be more excited. Keen to share her happiness, she organises a huge surprise party for all their family and friends… except things don’t quite work out as she expected, and
instead of planning a flower-filled wedding, she finds herself single, and fired from a job she loves.

Desperate to escape her heartbreak, she jets off to her aunt’s quirky Hummingbird Hotel on the gorgeous island of Corfu. Little did she know that instead of spending her time lounging by the pool, drinking cocktails, and soaking up the sun, she’d be stepping into the role of the island’s newest hotelier.

The arrival of unexpected guests sends Abbie into a tailspin of panic, and she’s forced to turn to snippy, but charismatic, vineyard owner-turned-chef, Nikos Angelopoulos, for help. Why does the kitchen fill with smoke whenever she makes coffee? Why is there a naked man swimming in the pool? And why do the hotel’s toiletries turn their guests’ hair pink?

Despite all the chaos, the Hummingbird Hotel works its magic on Abbie, and she finds herself with a decision to make. Will she return home to the drizzly grey skies of London? Or will she take a leap of
faith and embrace the new opportunities that little corner of paradise has to offer, and maybe, just maybe, discover a sprinkle of romance along the way?

What I think:

This is absolutely perfect reading for summer.

If you are having a staycation or holidaying in the UK and missing European travel, then this is the perfect book to fulfil your sunshine wishes.

Abbie is such an appealing character. Kind, thought and passionate about flowers, she has dreams to own a cottage and create her dream garden while working at Kew Gardens. Instead she finds herself as a florist to the stars with the company owner, and boyfriend, taking the credit for her creativity.

When her relationship ends in a spectacularly public manner she is mortified and heartbroken. Especially when she loses her job too.

Abbie finally gets around to calling a solicitor that has been trying to contact her for weeks and discovers that she has unexpectedly inherited the Hummingbird Hotel in Corfu, left to her by an estranged aunt that she had never met.

This is literally my dream – sadly all of my aunts and unclesbare accounted for!

The Hummingbird Hotel is everything you could dream of. It’s a beautiful location with stunning views and a charming atmosphere. It makes me want to pack my bags.

Abbie finds herself having to deal with a small hen party of guests and calls for locals and friends of her aunt to help her including gorgeous Nikos – the perfect brooding but sensitive hero. Abbie finds herself increasingly drawn to him.

My favourite is horoscope quoting yoga instructor Felix who is funny and charming. His story helps Abbie see the value of a different pace of life and peace of mind that Corfu can bring.

Will Abbie find happiness and love on Corfu? Will she realise that dreams can change? Well, I will leave you to read for yourself.

This is a such a feel-good summer read that will definitely have you dreaming of Greek sunshine. Perfect escapism – I thoroughly enjoyed Abbie’s Corfu adventure.
