If you like British crime novels featuring ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, then you’ll love this gripping tale of secrets, lies and obsession that leads to murder.

What I think:

This is the second book featuring Lexie Wyatt but is a complete standalone.

And it’s really good.

The story unfold slowly and although there are quite a few characters you get to find out quite a loot about each of them and at points do see things from different perspectives.

Lexie’s skills as a journalist – particularly her ability to observe and listen, mean that she gradually pieces the clues together and comes to a conclusion that solve the murder of Madeline McDonald and some other things that happen along the way (no spoilers from me!)

This kept me engaged and guessing all the way until the end at the same time as giving enough clues for me too work out some of the events in the puzzle for myself which is the best kind of mystery.

Thoroughly enjoyed this and will definitely read more books by Shauna Bickley in the future.

I write crime novels featuring characters who aren’t afraid to solve mysteries, find murderers, and generally get themselves in all sorts of danger. In real life, I couldn’t ever consider myself the heroine of one of my own books.

As well as murder mysteries and thrillers, I also enjoy writing and reading contemporary fiction with plenty of drama and a twist of romance.

In addition to novels, I also enjoy writing short stories. I have had short fiction published in the Awesome Indies Anthology, Bravado, non-fiction articles in The New Writer, and appeared in several competition anthologies.

I was born in England and after a lot of exploring and travelling, I now live in the Waikato, New Zealand, close to some beautiful beaches.
